As we dive back under the clamshell, notice the messy "discount store" yellow plug wires draped rather sloppily around everything. Is this a sign of bad things to come?
Also of note is the sad condition of the OE magnesium valve covers finish (not good, not good at all). These would need total restoration if they were being reused, but it would not be cost effective to do so. The L98 engine had a bad ticking coming from the valvetrain when we first acquired the car, indicating rocker arm and or valve spring problems. It could be anything...maybe we’ll get lucky and find a loose rocker arm ...
